Dear House Officers, MOs, Registrars and Specialists

Let me take this opportunity to announce that MRCS Part A preparation course will be launched for the first time at Melaka Manipal Medical College from 2-5 September 2016. The course is a four-day intensive training organized by Department for Postgraduate Studies/Professional Studies, Department of Surgery, Melaka Manipal Medical College (MANIPAL UNIVERSITY). The Intercollegiate MRCS Part A examination is the first step for the award this postgraduate diploma. 

The prep course is especially intended for House Officers, MO, Registrars and Specialists who are interested to become a member of one of the four surgical Royal Colleges in the UK and Ireland. 

The prep course will cover the topics in applied basic sciences and principles of surgery in general, ICU & Critical Care, Trauma & emergency Surgery.  

The course instructors are well experienced in both clinical as well as teaching medical students. They have had prior clinical and teaching experience in USA and UK. They are currently teaching over years in India. The Surgical instructors team are from Osler’s Academy, Hyderabad, India.  

So, my advice to you is to begin your post-graduate training as early as possible in your life during housemanship as the MRCS is a parallel pathway to a Surgical degree especially when your memory on basic medical knowledge and skills are still fresh. Before you attempt to sit for this exam you should prepare yourself by attending this Prep Course.
